Tour Details

The Trekking in Triund Trek starts from Dharamsala/McLeodganj which over the years has become a well-known hill vacation destination. This bustling Tibetan Buddhist town is home to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and his Tibetan government in exile.

Dhauladhar is one of the most unique and beautiful mountain ranges in the world. Rocky terrains with a million boulders jutting out of the mountain, makes it ambient to see and interesting to climb. In this getaway trek you will trek in the lower Dhauladhars and climb a hill top just in front of the mighty ranges. It is a 2843m hill, standing parallel to the higher Dhauladhars, with Mun peak appearing at an arm’s length. The views from here are simply marvellous, with a progression of snow clogged high peaks like Matterhorn (4478m), standing tall. Spending a night here is recommended, as the stars fill up the sky, with a prominent trail of the ‘Milkyway’ connecting both the horizons.

Itinerary

Day 1 McLeodganj (2000m) – Triund (2875 m) Trek/4-5 hrs

After breakfast we drive to the Galu Devi Temple which is a 30 minutes’ drive. From here we start our hike for the day. The trail passes through mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees and though it’s steep yet the excellent views of vast landscapes of Dhramkot and Dhramshala and the whole Kangra valley compensate for the efforts. Triund Trek is a flat meadow on top of a ridge and receives a lot of snowfall during the season. From here panoramic views of Dhauladhar range towards the north and Kangra valley towards the south are worth memorable sight.
Overnight in tents.

Day 2Height Gain Towards Snowline café (3300m) Trek/4-5 hrs

This morning after a nice warm breakfast you climb onto the ridge and traverse towards the snowline café, this is where the snowline is generally found in the months of summers. Today we will hike through the fields of giant boulders and a forest of oak and rhododendron filled with birds and flowers. We’ll walk towards the snowline café till the trail allows us to go before returning to the tents by sundown.
Overnight in tents at Triund.

Day 3Triund to Mc Leodganj Trek/4-5 hrs

After breakfast we start trekking towards McLeodganj. Today’s hike is not difficult but technical, as you climb down the steep slopes, staying alert is advised. Trek ends here and one is free to stay in McLeodganj or continue with their onward journey.
