Bhrigu lake trek is a beautiful trek which is suitable for beginners. Still many experienced trekkers love it because of its beauty. Bhrigu lake is a glacial lake which is beautiful and the journey to get to is just amazing. We cross through some of the most wonderful meadows and grasslands. From the campsite of Roli Khuli on nights with clear skies, it’s a treat for anyone who loves stars. We get to view the Pir Pinjal and Dhauladhar ranges throughout this trek. Other prominent peaks as Hanuman Tibba (5932 metres), Deo tibba (6,000 metres), Indrasen (6,220 metres) can be seen from the Bhrigu lake.
From the list of beginner graded treks, Bhrigu lake is very popular among trekkers as it is a 4 days trekking experience.
NEW DELHI
3 Hours Before Flight Time
Arrive in Manali and assemble near the famous Rambagh circle in main Manali post an early Lunch. Start from here to a 25kms road journey to Gulaba. Gulaba in on the road to Rohtang pass. We get down at the Gulaba sighting ground right at the bend for a short trek to the campsite for the day. Reach the site by 4pm and rest for the rest of the day.
Today’s trek will be a steep ascend to the Rola Khuli campsite. We trek for nearly 30 mins through dense Himalayan birch and cedar trees post which we could spot the local nomad huts with the animals.
This is a meadow patch and right above it is Hanuman tibba (5932 mts). Post this meadows patch, we enter into the second forest before heading towards our final ascent to our camp site. There are a couple of patches for filling up water. The first source it more reliable however, we suggest checking with the guide/trek lead for a confirmation.
The camping site is a beautiful wide open ground with the chor nalla (water source) flowing right through it. We pitch tents and retire for the day post some cool down sessions.
We climb up approx. 1400 feet and 5kms from Rola khuli to get to the Bhrigu lake. This is a climb over one ridge to the other. There is an initial trail over stones followed by a steep ascend for about 2 hours. There is a small descend of 10 to 15 mins followed by a final steep ascent to the lake. The lake is covered under fog most of the times.
We spend some time here at the Bhrigu lake, click some pictures and head back to our camp Rola Khuli. The route back would be relaxing on the knees however it is advised to descend carefully due to the steep patches.
We get to view Pir Pinjal and the Dhauladhar ranges. Peaks as Hanuman tibba, Deo Tibba and Indrasen can be also seen on a clear day.
Today is a comparatively easy day. We descend for nearly 3 hours with a few steep patches to reach Gulaba. We drive back to Manali and drop you at the Ram bagh circle. We take this route to return instead to descending to Vashisht. This route is better as this route causes lesser stress on the knees athan the one compared to Vashisht.
