Pin Parvati Pass trek is one of the trickiest treks in Himachal. It connects the Parvati Valley in Kullu to Pin Valley in Spiti. Pin valley trek is located at an elevation of 5319 meter high which delights the seasoned trekkers.

Although the trek is difficult and is meant for seasoned trekkers, one with good fitness and enthusiasm can make an attempt. The trek starts from a small village called Barsheni. While trekking to Rudranath and camp followed by Kheerganga to Tunda Bhuj and Thakur Kuan at height of 13400 high trekkers discover the barren valleys of Himachal, attractive villages, bright sea cliff, and high chilling waterfalls.

One crosses the mighty and majestic Pin Parvati Pass at 17500 ft.

Itinerary

Day 1

We start our trek from Kullu. Starting from Kullu we reach village Barsheni and then to Rudranath camp site. We will experience the confluence of Parvati river as well as Tosh rivers at the start of this trek.
We drive to Barsheni from Kullu which takes about 4-5 hours. Hereafter, we trek from Barsheni to Kalga village and further ahead to Rudranath. The trek today is a moderate one.
Rudranath campsite also has a waterfall and a Lord Shiva temple.
l meet at 4 p.m. at our hotel in Luzern (Lucerne) for a “Welcome to Switzerland” meeting. Then we’ll take a meandering evening walk through Switzerland’s most charming lakeside town, and get acquainted with one another over dinner together. Sleep in Luzern (2 nights). No bus. Walking: light.

Day 2

The trek today is a moderate one as well and takes about 3 hours to reach Kheerganga. We start from our camp site and trek towards Kheerganga. Kheerganga is a very common and popular trek in this region.
Khirganga is a beautiful inclined meadow. You will find many huts here for travelers and restaurants/cafes as well. After settling down, a visit to the Parvati kund is a must. Parvati kund is famous for its Hot water springs and such pampering is much needed after a long trek.
We spend our night here in Tents.

Day 3

Wake up to an awesome view and start our trek for today to Tunda Bhuj after having breakfast. The trek today will take about 5-6 hours. We cross through a string of waterfalls on our way today. This route is mainly used by villagers/shepherds and so the trek is muddy and can slow you down a little.

We will cross a series of make shift bridges and through forests, we will reach meadows. This is where locals also sell refreshments. Today we gain a height of 10000+ ft. From the top we can see the beautiful Parvati valley as well.
We reach Tunda Bhuj and camp for the day.

Day 4

We will trek for 5-6 hours today to reach Thakur Ganj. The trail today will start with a flat terrain followed by a steady ascent after we cross the wooden bridge over Parvati river.
We will also see beautiful blossoms of buttercups, iris, poppies and other wild flowers scattered throughout. We walk down to the Parvati river and cross it over to the other side with the help of Pulley Bridge.
Thakur Ganj is a beautiful flat meadows and will serve as our campsite for tonight.

Day 5

We have a long day today. Our stretch today will cover Odi Thach reaching Mantalai. We will trek for about 8-10 hours today to reach Mantalai. We will take a short break and unwind at Odi Thach. The trek both before Odi Thach and after till Mantali is a tough one. With series of Waterfalls and climbs, we will make it to Mantalai.
Mantalai is elevated at 13, 440 ft. The route is muddy and over boulder strewn path. We will camp at lake side at Mantalai Lake.
The view throughout the trek and at the lake side is Picturesque one and is amazing for photography enthusiasts.

Day 6

It is going to be an early start today. We need to be up and ready for the trek at 6:00 AM. We will be trekking for about 12 hours today to reach Parvati Base Camp. The trail becomes steep gradually over boulders and other moraines after starting with almost a flat terrain.
The trek today is a tricky one but our guides will make sure, we do it with all the safety in mind. We cross a cold water river to get to the other side. We will reach the Parvati base camp, which is basically a plateau. The camp is at a height of 15, 100 ft. And indeed the view is magnificent and breathtaking.
The mighty Parvati South, Pyramid Peak are clearly visible from here.

Day 7

Our day today it the most exciting one and a long one as well. Today we will be getting on to a height of 18,000 ft and cross over the Pass to reach Pin Base Camp site. The trek includes steady steep ascents over boulder scattered terrains and glacial drifts of clay and rocks.
We keep trekking steadily to the left side of the glacier and we would reach a plateau facing a huge rock.
Once we reach the Pin Parvati Pass, we can see the entire Pin valley beneath, the Kinner Kailash and Srikhand Mahadev past it and the famous Bara Shigri complex.On a clear day, can also locate the peaks of Bara Shigiri – Fluted peak, Kulu Makalu, Parbati and the Goat head peak, Rubalkhand and the peaks of Dibibokri.
After spending some time at the pass we trek to the other side reaching Pin Valley Base at 15,770 ft.

Day 8

We start our day at leisure. It is a moderate trek today We cross the stream today and depending on the current we decide our next steps. It might be a little longer turn around to the other side if the current is high.
We continue to trek towards Wichkurung Thatch which is at 12, 600 ft. It is a cattle grazing field. The location is beautiful surrounded by grassland, blooming with colorful flowers. The vision of the setting sun is just beyond expression.

Day 9

We trek down to Mudh. It is about 5 Kms from Wichkurung Thatch. Today is a descending trail that routes over rocks and rubbles and finally reaches big tombstones. We might notice yaks and bharals grazing at peace. Mudh is a national park where many animals like the Ibex, Blue sheep, rare Tibetan gazelle, Tibetan wolf, Snowy hare and the Wooly hare takes shelter.
In the past, Mudh was the only oasis in the Spiti dessert.
From Mudh we drive to Kaza. Overnight in Hotel/Home Stay/Tents

Day 10

We drive today from Kaza to Manali where our trip will end. It will take about 9-10 hours and we will cross one of the most famous passes on our way back, Kunzum and Rohtang pass.
